Hello Janice, we are a long-time homeschooling family, and I lead a guild of learners once weekly in the areas of science, writing, literature, history, and finance. I organize the high school level and bring in experts in each area (I am the writing person, and I work closely with our literature person). I stumbled upon your program on a high school homeschool facebook page and am thrilled. My children were raised on IEW, and we used IEW’s progymnasmata writing program last year for 8th grade (a little of a stretch). I like to have a plan for several years in order to relax and enjoy the moment, and I love that you have the 5 year program. We have chosen our own books for 3 years now for literary discussion and narration (and writing inspiration), and I need something more formal for high school, and this seems perfect. We plan to study American History using an AP prep book, and I love your American focused collection, but unfortunately we have already read about half of the books within that plan. Therefore, my plan is to mix it up a bit. My question before purchasing the curriculum (can’t decide between purchasing American or purchasing all 5 then printing what we need for the American and mixture of what is used) is this: do you simply list books for the honors option or also provide commentary and analysis and writing suggestions for the honors books? If I wanted to mix and match (sometimes my children get bored if we read all from a particular period in one year – we did that with Tapestry one year, and I think I have swayed my children from ever reading anything about Egypt again). Can you let me know if you think the digital/print combo of all five years and printing just what we need will work? What if I wanted only honors options? Would it just be a list of books or is there analysis for each honors option as well? Thank you for answering this long question. Love your work!
