Tech schools are just as important as anything else, as are music, art, homemaking, etc. – and yet they keep getting phased out of both public and Christian classrooms – and sometimes homeschool programs as well. As you wisely point out, not all kids will or should go to college but they all should be educated – just in different ways to match the skill-set God blessed them with. Thanks for a very interesting and thought-provoking article.

I’m so glad that you’ve each enjoyed it. I encountered Daffodils and Diesels at the beginning of our homeschool journey, and kept it in mind through the years.

So much misery can be avoided if we allow each to grow and work within his or her gifts. It goes both ways– a student who works best with his or her mind should have the doors of academic opportunity opened.

Thanks for posting this…it’s a great reminder for me, on those days when Pre-Algebra and reading a textbook are major struggles.

I’ve got at least 2 boys who are NOT college bound. They sound much like the young man in this essay!

A great reminder that we need to value children’s individual gifts and talents, instead of trying to force them into a particular mold.
