Although I enjoy seeing this particular child and his big sister any time!\u00a0Having books always accessible; seeing books read by other family members; and enjoying cuddle time during a story will almost certainly ensure a love of reading, which usually translates nicely into a love of learning.<\/p>\n<h3>Soul<\/h3>\n<p>&#8220;<strong><a href=\"http:\/\/www.circeinstitute.org\/blog\/are-we-educating-humans-or-machines\" target=\"_blank\">Are We Educating Humans or Machines<\/a><\/strong>?&#8221; In this brief post on the Circe Institute blog, Danny Breed\u00a0suggests that creativity, beauty, and joy, rather than problem-solving, are\u00a0central to human learning. This I believe whole-heartedly, and it&#8217;s something you&#8217;ll be hearing more about in weeks to come.<\/p>\n<p>The <a href=\"http:\/\/www.thetallisscholars.co.uk\" target=\"_blank\"><strong>Tallis Scholars<\/strong><\/a> has long been my favorite musical group (fortunately, I&#8217;ve never had &#8220;cool&#8221; or &#8220;hip&#8221; as one of my goals!). I find it meditative, uplifting, and inspiring.<\/p>\n<p><iframe loading=\"lazy\" src=\"\/\/www.youtube-nocookie.com\/embed\/iT-ZAAi4UQQ?rel=0\" width=\"420\" height=\"315\" frameborder=\"0\" allowfullscreen=\"allowfullscreen\"><\/iframe><\/p>\n<h3>Mind<\/h3>\n<p>In &#8220;<strong><a href=\"http:\/\/ethikapolitika.org\/2014\/07\/28\/adderall-virtue-2\/\" target=\"_blank\">Adderall and Virtue<\/a><\/strong>,&#8221; posted on <a href=\"http:\/\/ethikapolitika.org\/\" target=\"_blank\">Ethika Politika<\/a>, Jonathan Liedl discusses the impact of technology on virtue and on the culture. One brief quote: &#8220;The &#8216;problem of modern technology&#8217; is leading to the abolition of culture, the decline of virtues and the flourishing of vices; technology is literally supplanting our ability to be social beings. This is indeed a new form of barbarism, more alarming than any before.&#8221;<\/p>\n<h3>Strength<\/h3>\n<p>Want your homemade bread delivered by horse-drawn wagon? If you live in Vermont, it could happen! In this delightful article from <strong><a href=\"http:\/\/www.motherearthnews.com\/diy\/horse-drawn-wagon-zm0z14jjzmar.aspx#axzz39jRcgjpE\" target=\"_blank\">Mother Earth<\/a><\/strong> magazine, Erik Andrus of <strong><a href=\"http:\/\/www.goodcompanionbakery.com\/aboutus.html\" target=\"_blank\">Good Companion Bakery<\/a><\/strong> describes how and why he built a custom horse-drawn wagon\u00a0to take his breads and pastries to the local farmer&#8217;s market. Be sure to notice how Erik shaped his business to fit his personal values of community and sustainability, as well as \u00a0his interest in woodworking and working with animals. It offers an eye-opening look at the benefits of micro enterprise as a weapon against poverty, as well as a look at the unintended consequences of thoughtless charity.\u00a0It&#8217;s sobering to know that the bundle of clothing you donate today may be part of the tsunami of free or cheap goods that drives a native entrepreneur out of business, shuttering a small factory and leaving people unemployed. This would be a good series to watch in a small group or church setting.<\/p>\n<h3>Self<\/h3>\n<p>Wardrobe isn&#8217;t always a concern for home-based entrepreneurs, but most of us must occasionally emerge to attend a conference, meet a client, perform a service, or whatever it is. When we do emerge, it&#8217;s nice to have some idea of what is considered proper business wear. <strong><a href=\"http:\/\/www.isyfashion.com\/Career-Attire.html\" target=\"_blank\">Advice on Career Attire<\/a><\/strong>, from Mary Sheehan Warren of ISY Fashion, offers a fairly detailed overview of what to wear to meet the standards for\u00a0executive business, business, or business casual styles.
